Every homeowner knows that sooner or later the gutters on their house need to be cleaned especially if they have no gutter guards. I waited too long and, during a rainstorm, I found out the hard way, that my ladder was not long enough to reach the gutters. Well, I could have hired cleaning services for that. These services are quite affordable and efficient as well. If you are looking for a cleaning service then, cleaning gutters in the Leeds area is the best option for you. You will get a professional service at an affordable price. Although, I tried to do this on my own and here is my experience.
Having no gutter guards, the rainwater was pouring out of the clogged gutters and drowning the newly planted spring flowers below. I quickly needed to come up with a solution to save those little plants.
I realized, too late, that to clean the gutters was a chore not to be postponed, especially when you have no gutter guards. This is especially true in our area because we live under giant trees, which are about sixty feet tall.
Whenever these tall trees sway in the wind, my poor house under them gets coated with a heavy layer of tree buds, pollen, and small leaves in the spring and a heavy coat of leaves in the fall. As a result, everyone without gutter guards must clean the gutters very often during these times of the year.
One day, in heavy rain, it finally happened. Without gutter guards, the gutters became clogged and overflowed. The rainwater was gushing out from the gutters like a waterfall and drowning the little flower plants neatly arranged on the ground near the house. Now, in order to save some of them, I needed to clean the gutters in a hurry.
I put on a raincoat, brought my trusty eight-foot stepladder outside and tried to reach the gutters from the ground. Even though I live in a one-story house, and the gutters are just above the front door, to my surprise, the ladder was not long enough to reach the gutters from the ground. I needed to clean the gutters fast if I wanted to save the drowning plants under the overflowing gutters. I needed to find a solution!
A thought came to my mind. I was going to use water power to clean the gutters. I placed the stepladder on top on the small front porch at the center of the house, I went up on the ladder and, finally now, I could see the top of the unreachable clogged gutters, on both sides of the porch.
The rain by now had subsided, so I got down the stepladder to get the garden hose. I attached a heavy-duty straight nozzle to the garden hose, got up on the stepladder, and pointed the sharp water stream at the accumulated debris in the gutters. After some time passed, there was a success. The watery push from the nozzle caused the debris to overflow from the gutters together with the water. Finally, the gutters were cleaned, and the water was flowing properly.
You may ask: “Did you save the newly planted spring flowers?” No, unfortunately. The water from the rainstorm and the muck coming from cleaning the gutters damaged most of the planted spring flowers.
Sorry for the unhappy ending, but at least I found a way to clean the gutters without a long extension ladder.

Thank you for reading, and please do not take this article as advice on how to clean your gutters, because each situation is different, and you need to find your own gutter cleaning procedure. As for myself, I will really try not to postpone cleaning the gutters, because I cannot afford to buy gutter guards.
