Hair came out too dark, too orange, or too red what can I use to help remove unwanted hair dye? In todays world, everyone seems to be on a budget, so instead of blowing $60-$150 at a salon to color their they decide to do take a chance at home. Unfortunately dyeing the hair is not as easy as it seems.
You need to choose the right color and use the right application, which is roots followed by the mid shaft, length and then the ends the last 15-20 minutes of processing. The ends of the hair seem to grab the color much quicker due to its porosity. When wanting to remove any hair dye, you need to consider the most easiest, and safest ways such as hot oil treatments, medicated shampoo, or Vitamin c. Now that I have your undivided attention, your probably thinking “Why Vitamin C?” Does this specific vitamin actually remove hair color?” Yes, it certainly does. And not only does it strip the hair, it also gives the hair a healthier appearance. This method has to be correctly though. Here’s how.
Years ago I tried this process and used a regular shampoo (like I was told by other beauticians) mixed with the vitamin c, and it really didn’t budge the color much. So being a professional beautician, I went ahead and used the Quick Blue lightening pack that I normally use when someone’s hair appears too dark or brassy. This worked like a charm.
Just recently I decided I wanted to give the vitamin c another shot, because I was out of bleaching agents and I already had the vitamin c in my medicine cabinets. This time instead of using regular shampoo, I decided to use a body wash.
Crush up 8 tablets until the consistency is like dust. Place into an empty bottle along with some body wash. A few really good squirts will do. Drop a drop of water into this bottle. Shake the bottle and mix extremely well.
Lightly wet your hair. DO NOT soak the hair just mist it throughly. Apply the vitamin c mixture onto the hair. Lather it up well like a shampoo. Clip the hair up and place a processing cap on.
Leave the mixture for 25-40 minutes. Rinse out with hot water to remove the excess dye. Then rinse again with cold water to lock the new shade in.
Another thing make sure it’s vitamin c, with the rose hips in it. Rose hips are a great addition to your hair. It will help with growth, shine, breakage, and manageability.
To remove hair dye up to 2-4 shades repeat the process mentioned above.
Once the hair dye is removed and it still appears brassy, go ahead and place a hair toner on for 20 minutes to tone the yellow or orange down.
