Today’s world is about modern things, devices, and currencies. Digitalization has left no aspect untouched and has digitalized almost everything around us form shopping to banking; everything is now possible digitally. Even the currencies are not left untouched by the digitalization as it has given birth to the digital currencies better known as cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and litecoin. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and has been in the market for a long time now, whereas litecoin is relatively new and has not gained much popularity as compared to bitcoin. These cryptocurrencies offer a great medium of investment and opportunity to make some good profits.
Bitcoin is quite popular all around the world as it is the Bitcoin Era, but litecoin is not much popular and which is the reason that people don’t know much about litecoin and most of them mistake it to be the same. Although both of them are digital currencies still, there are some differences in both of them. Litecoin was inspired by the bitcoin but was invented to make some improvements and changes that were not present in the bitcoin. So there are some differences in both of them, and we shall read about them in-depth in the following points.
Some essential points of difference between litecoin and bitcoin
Technology
The first thing that differentiates litecoin and bitcoin is the technology used in them. Bitcoin works on the technology known as the blockchain, which is a virtual record of trades. These records are stored over different nodes, or in simple words, all the data is stored on different computers all over the world. Users can use this technology to transfer money to different people without going to any bank, doing any paperwork, and paying any additional fees and charges.
The groups of transactions are termed as blocks, and when all the groups come together, it is known as the blockchain. Bitcoin is quite expensive, and you must have a powerful system to do it efficiently. The inventor of litecoin put new rules into it known as scrypt, which was quite faster than the bitcoin and consumed comparatively less power. Litecoin is much convenient than the bitcoin as it offers excellent speed and is more cost-efficient.
Price and investment
The cost of bitcoin and litecoin is another major factor that differentiates both of these cryptocurrencies. Digital currencies have become quite popular and attracting a lot of demand, which has to lead to frequent changes in their prices. If we talk about the present times, ‘ bitcoin is considered to be more costly and involves more risk. The prices are at their bottom, and it is not the right time to invest in the bitcoins. On the other side, litecoin is a new digital currency in the market and has a long way to go. It has been growing at a steady pace, but no one can predict the market as anytime; any one of both can become of no value, but in the present, it more risky to invest in bitcoin than the litecoin.
Replacing money
Both of these digital currencies have failed to replace the money completely. However, there are some stores and companies that accept bitcoins in payment, but they are very few. But if we talk about accepting it, bitcoin is more accepted as it is more popular whereas litecoin is not much popular among people.
